During the summer of 2008 the Department of Planning, Zoning, and Development distributed community surveys to every household in the City. The survey asked questions about the City as a place to live, work, raise a family, and do business. Of the 6,000 surveys distributed, 22% were completed and returned. In the months that followed, workshops were held around the City to give residents a chance to communicate their ideas and thoughts with City Planners in person.
Input collected from the surveys and workshops was used to inform the community vision found in the 2009 Comprehensive Plan.
