Code Enforcement
The City's Code Enforcement Inspector, working under the direction of the Code Official, enforces sections of the City Code including the city's Property Maintenance Code, solid waste, sidewalks, high grass and other issues regarding residential and commercial properties within the City. He also provides support regarding zoning inspections. The purpose of enforcement of the city's various codes is to protect the health, safety and welfare of the citizens in relation to existing buildings and premises. Code enforcement also helps support and maintain property values in Westminster.
The Code Enforcement Officer enforces the sections of the City Code addressing property maintenance and housing, solid waste, sidewalks and other issues regarding residential and commercial properties within the city.

Complaint Procedures
When a complaint is received by the city, the Code Enforcement Inspector completes and initial inspection, issues a notice of violation, if necessary, and completes all follow-up inspections. If the violation is mitigated within the established timeframe, the case is closed. However, if the violation is not mitigated, the Code Enforcement Inspector issues a citation and requests a court date. The city may abate the violation and bill the property owner, and also reserves the right to seek a court injunction to gain compliance.Resources
