National Night Out is held in neighborhoods throughout the City of Westminster, Carroll County, and across the nation. Neighborhoods are asked to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the event. National Night Out is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) and cosponsored by the various law enforcement agencies and organizations nationwide. This event will involve over 11,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases around the world. In all, over 35 million people are expected to participate in "National Night Out Against Crime."
National Night Out is designed to:
Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness
Generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs
Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships
Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back
