Westminster Common Councilmember Kevin E. Dayhoff returned to the council in 2019. He previously served as a councilmember from 1999-2001 and mayor from 2001-2005. Kevin retired from 25-years of farming, property management, landscape design, and contracting in 1999.
Councilmember Dayhoff has served as a non-partisan appointed official on various state and local government, business, and agriculture boards since 1978; including the Carroll Co. Charter Board and Chair of the Carroll Co. Environmental Affairs Advisory Board from 1994-1999.
Councilmember Dayhoff served on the Carroll Co. Chapter of the MML and the MD Municipal League Board of Directors 2000-2005. He graduated from the University of Md. Academy for Excellence in Local Government in June 2001. He has exhibited art and photography since 1981. Councilmember Dayhoff served in the US Marine Corps Reserves from 1971 – 1973.
Councilmember Dayhoff is an active member of the Carroll Co. NAACP Branch #7014, the Westminster Fire Department, Grace Lutheran Church, and the American Legion. He serves as chaplain and Public Information Officer for the Westminster Fire Department and MD State Police Troopers’ Lodge #20.
Since 2004 Councilmember Dayhoff has written for a number of national and local publications. He currently writes for the Baltimore Sun Media Group and is assigned to the Carroll County Times.
Councilmember Dayhoff was born and raised in Westminster and lives in Westminster with his wife Caroline. His term expires in 2023.
