The City of Westminster will hold a General Election on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. The election is for one (1) Mayor and two (2) members of the Common Council of the City of Westminster for four years commencing on May 19, 2025.

7:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.

For the offices of one mayor and two members of the Common Council


Voting locations are:

Westminster Community Building at the Westminster Municipal Pool 
325 Royer Road
Westminster, MD 21158

Residents who reside on the west side of Maryland 31 vote at the Westminster Community Building at the Westminster Municipal Pool.

OR

John Street Quarters (Westminster Volunteer Fire Department)
28 John Street
Westminster, MD 21157

Residents who reside on the east side of Maryland 31 vote at the Westminster Fire Company.

Thursday, January 2: Candidate Registration for the 2025 Election begins at 8:30 a.m.

Absentee Ballot Request Available (Click Here)

Candidate Packets and Absentee Ballot Request Forms are  available for pick-up starting on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at the City of Westminster Administration Building (45 West Main Street, Westminster, Maryland 21157) Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Please ask to see Clerk of Elections, Doug Barber or Executive Assistant, Erica Kirkner.

Prospective Candidates can submit their completed Candidate Packet Monday through Friday, at the City of Westminster Administration Building (45 West Main Street, Westminster, Maryland 21157), from 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.  Please ask to see Clerk of Elections, Doug Barber or Executive Assistant, Erica Kirkner.

Friday, March 21: DEADLINE for to file for Candidacy at 4:30 p.m.

Monday, March 24: Announcement of the Certified Candidates during the Mayor and Common Council Meeting

Monday, April 14: VOTER REGISTATION DEADLINE (4:30 P.M.) for registering to vote with Carroll County Board of Elections. You must be a resident of the City of Westminster and be qualified to vote in order to run for office or to vote in the General Election.

Sunday, April 20: DEADLINE for filing of First Campaign Finance Statement, due by 4:30 p.m.

Monday, May 5: DEADLINE for filing of Second Campaign Finance Statement, due by 4:30 p.m.

Tuesday, May 13: ELECTION DAY (Polls Open from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.)

Friday, May 16: DEADLINE for filing of Third Campaign Statement, due by 4:30 p.m. 

Monday, May 19: SWEARING-IN NEWLY ELECTED OFFICIALS at Special Mayor and Common Council Meeting - Councilmember Organizational Meeting
